1) An Adult Bedroom- This is the bedroom that the adults sleep in. The adults of the house are the only people who sleep in this room. This room would go perfectly into this client's home because him and his wife need a place to sleep. We chose this bedroom specifically because it isn't too fancy. It is just a simple adult bedroom. 2) A Girl's Bedroom- This is a girls bedroom only. All the girls in the house sleep in this bedroom. They do not have their fiends come to hang out in this room. This room goes with the design because it has a light blue on the wall which shows that the farmer is not poor or rich. We chose this room for the girl's bedroom because the room isn't as big as the adult's room.
3) A Boy's Bedroom- This is where only the boys sleep. They would play with their toys and sleep in this room. This bedroom is appropriate for the client's house because it isn't too big. We chose this bedroom as the boy's bedroom because of the toys on the floor. That shows that this is a kid's bedroom. 4) A Dining Room- This room is used only to eat meals. This is the family dining room. It would be appropraite for the client's home because it is not too fancy, but also it isn't too dull. We chose this dining room because it seemed to match what we needed for this better than any other rooms. 5) Parlor- Guest stay here when they come to visit. On a small farm, the room is not very big. There is only one, not just one for the boys or one for the girls. This room would fit in the client's home becase it's not a big fancy parlor, but it it a simple parlor. We chose this one because it wasn't very big and fancy. 6) Kitchen- The food is cook and prepared in the kitchen. There is no hired service to help out in the kitchen of this house. It is just the women who work here. They prepare food for the whole family in this room. This kitchen is very simple and has everything this family needs to cook. That is why it would be appropriate for this house and that's also why we chose this room. 7) Laundry Area- This is where the laundry is done. They don't need a room inside when they have room outside. The women that live in the house also do the laundry. This part would be appropraiate for the client's farm because it has all the necesseties they need to do laundry. We chose this because it shows that the client is not poor but not rich either. 8) Pantry- This is where the client and his family will store their food. This room would help out because they need a place to put their food. It would be appropriate since it is on a small farm that grows their own crops. We specifically picked this room for the design of our client's home because it is just a simple room. 9) Barn- This is the barn for corn. The reason why this barn is raised off of the ground is because it helps keep out rats and rodents. This is helpful on a small farm that grows corn because it can prevent rats from eating the corn that they grow. That's exactly why we chose this barn.
10) Field- This field is almost perfect for a small farm because, as seen in the picture, it is not very big. It is just big enough to grow all that needs to be grown on it. We chose it for those two reaons.
A Middle Colonies Small Farmhouse Design:
